Stuff I Like

steamer

Jiffy Steamers – the way to keep your clothes looking great.  It even cuts down on the number of trips to the dry cleaners.  Steaming relaxes the fibers in fabric, allowing the wrinkles to drop out.  Terrific for all your suits, silks, synthetics and delicates, as well as polo shirts – faster and safer than ironing.  Superior product and family-owned since 1940 – these folks make the very best steamers on the market.  I recommend model J-2000 for home use, and the ESTEAM model for travel.

hanky panky concealors

Hanky Panky Concealors – what to wear when you want to look bare (not really bare – it’s just so your lingerie won’t show through those slightly see-through tops).  The edges don’t show, so the look is very sleek.

handbag

Chameleon Purse Organizer (aka Handbag Insert) – a convenient way to quickly change handbags.  Also makes up for those handbags that don’t have enough pockets.  Bonus:  your stuff is always in the same place, no matter which bag you use.  Comes in three sizes (medium and large can be “extra-sturdy”) and lots of colors.  Price range is $20 to $25, plus shipping.

bottle

Bend Don’t Break – Clear nail polish that stays flexible so razor-thin nails (like mine) don’t break so easily.  Regular polish chips on me after half a day.  Of course, they call it “a revolutionary nail complex formulated to maximize strength and flexibility and minimize breaking.”  Whatever.  It’s hard to find in stores, but is $11.00 a bottle online, plus $5.00 shipping, whether you order one or multiples.

bottle

Just’a Drop – “The Personal Bathroom Odor Eliminator.”  Yes, it’s a delicate topic, but this little bottle makes life ever so much more pleasant, especially if you share space with someone else.  One drop into the toilet before you go eliminates 98% of embarrassing bathroom odors.  How does this relate to image?  In the words of a testimonial on their website, “I never wanted to share a hotel room with anyone, go to the soccer field bathroom at the same time as my buddies, or even use the bathroom in my office during the day.”

As of this writing, it’s being offered at a “two for one” price which, with shipping, makes each bottle (90-day supply each) cost about $12.00.  Worth every penny. (Not sold in stores yet.)

Microplane Foot File Orb
This little widget is absolutely great for removing calluses and dead skin from your feet, leaving them baby-smooth and soft. It’s made by the same people who make food graters and zesters (which I also like), and they have the best version of this product. There’s a cheaper one “as seen on TV,” but it’s not as good. The Foot File is much better than other sandpaper-type files or pumice stones that just rub the skin off–a very time-consuming and often ineffective process.

You can get it at Hartwick’s in Eugene (at the Fifth Street Market), or order online from Microplane at http://us.microplane.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=10
